Kneel Down for What?

According to Isaiah 59:19, “Justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.” As a result, God is looking for those who are willing to establish his justice in the earth through consistent times of prayer and selfless acts of service. In an account, E. M. Bounds poses poignant questions and challenges leaders to teach others to pray: “Where are the modern day Christly Leaders who can teach the modern saints how to pray and put them at it? Do we know that we are raising up a prayer less set of saints? Where are the apostolic (prophetic) people that can put God’s people to praying? Let them come to the front and let them do the work; and it will be the greatest work ever done.”

Oftentimes I am asked about the importance of having a consistent prayer life. Most times I counter with the questions, how would it feel to have a friend who only called during difficult times, or time spent with you was an afterthought? Feelings of rejection would be at the core of the relationship.

In contrast, strong relationships are characterized by intimate friendship, and regular open communication; which are the identical characteristics necessary for building a consistent prayer life. Consistent daily prayer allows one to access the benefits of the kingdom of God: “…righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)  The psalmist, David, writes, God gives us assistance every day, “Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah pause, and calmly think of that!” (Psalm 68:19)

As we talk with God on a daily basis we receive God’s heart, mind, and purpose for our lives. When we consistently communicate with God we access his abundant provision, faithful nature, and loyal love. “It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His tender compassions fail not. They are new every morning…It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation the safety and ease of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:22-26)

As you communicate with God, on a daily basis, remember prayer is a conversation based on God’s covenant, God’s heart, God’s mind, and God’s purpose. As well, God and His purpose are the center and focus of every dialogue. In addition, prayer is an exchange of ideas about God’s purpose pertaining to your family, ministry, business, community, or nation. Finally, prayer is a tireless discipline. As with every discipline, the one who studies, trains, and exercises consistently experiences success. Therefore, be encouraged to, "Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

PRAYER

A Place by Me

Let down your guard, and come lay prostrate before Me. Refresh yourself, and drink from My Springs to quench your thirst. In lying down, you shall discover the keys for abundant life and the power to subdue your territory. I will pour water on your wounds, and you will recover.

I am your Creator. Here in the place of surrender, the place by Me, I will form and frame you for your destiny. (The word “formed” is the same word used in Genesis when it says that I formed man out of the dust of the ground, the same word when I spoke to Jeremiah about being formed in his mother’s womb, and the same word when I spoke of making summer and winter. It is the same word used when I spoke of forming the dry land.) I have already predestined, predetermined, and devised a plan for your life that you may serve Me, and serve a people. By My covenant, I have established it.

Bring yourself into a place of consecration. Come and dwell and build your habitation in Me. As you abide in Me, you will know, and understand that I AM[…]”
